Went in several weeks ago to ask about a particular style of lamp. A blonde woman directed me to their desktop computer to search the SoL website. Huh? Bought lamps elsewhere.

They sold us defective lights that were not known by us until after they had been installed by our contractor. We immediately called and asked to return them. They were very apologetic and told us that OF COURSE they would take back the bad lights. So we took them in and they refused to refund us because they weren't in their original box. The contractor had thrown away the boxes. And I'll reiterate, they were defective and poorly made lights. They shouldn't be resold. Who cares what box they came in.

My advice is not to use Shades of Light for online orders. Shipping and handling costs are high to start and do not cover return shipping. Returns cannot be arranged online. You must email the company. Long story short, it took follow up from me and nearly 7 weeks end-to-end to have the return fully processed, and I was still out $38.00 in shipping and handling fees.

Very professional! I drove over an hour each way to buy lampshades for some lamps my grandmother left me. I was in and out in 15 minutes, with the perfect selection!

Regretted purchasing this online. Absolutely no customer service care, I tried calling multiple times to find updates for my order but number went straight to voice machine. This worries me more now if product comes in defect and there is no way to reach out to their customer care.

Customer service, and repair is terrific, but this place is high end pricey. Plenty of lamp shade stock, styles, and decorative pieces. Good parking. Great place to scope out ideas and conservative trends.

Aurelis was AMAZING. She went above and beyond her job. I was confused and not sure, I gave her my vision and she picked several great options for me to choose from via text message. I had a very small order but she dealt with me as if I am spending 1000's. She would follow up and was extremely kind, genuine, professional, patient and courteous! Truly a pleasure dealing with her.

Their shipping costs are absolutely ridiculous! Who bases shipping on amount spent? Example: tried to buy 2 lights and mirror $357, shipping: $49? Called customer service to verify, yep. Asked if it was for next day delivery, nope. It's too bad because I really liked them. Oh well, Amazon will get money

UPDATE: A supervisor returned my phone call and agree to replace the fixture at no cost and apologized for the confusion. I am happy they correct there mistake. Terrible customer service from a company who does not stand behind their mistakes. Upon making a return and sending pictures of a broken fixture (the glass was broken), Shades of Light proceed to send a replacement.

Up until then everything was great. I confirmed I could throw out the broken piece as they did not want it back. At this point I threw away both the frame and the glass thinking they are one in same and as per the instructions I received. Upon handing what I thought was the replacement my electrician he indicated that the frame was missing. Shades of Light had only sent the glass. Obviously, this was a clear miss communication; at no point did the rep indicate that the glass and frame could be separated and gave me clearance to throw away the broken pieces.

There is no way for me know any better and I even checked before throwing it out which gave them two opportunities to explain it. Once during the initial return and once during the emails confirming me throwing it. After calling to explain to miss hap I thought a company as big as them would have offered a replacement no charge. Instead they offered my 20% to buy the same fixture charging me $30 to ship it.

In the end it isn't about the $$ here, but we have spent north of $500 with a company on your home and the mistake is clear, they should honor it. There was no understanding of the issue and they clearly have no qualms about there customer service process and the rep I spoke to this time around said she would have said the same things to me to regarding throwing it.

Buyer beware. They have a very archaic return policy for the modem world we live in and unless you understand how electrical fixtures come apart to sperate glass and fame and they tell you they are sending you just the glass, this same issue could happen to you.
