A fourth-generation family business, Rittenhouse Electric Supply Company opened its doors in 1957 in the heart of Philadelphia's Main Line. Still at its original location, Rittenhouse has expanded to provide lighting, supplies, controls and shades to discerning customers across the country and around the world.
Our in-house design support team will work with the homeowner, designer, architect, builder or electrician to tailor lighting, lighting control and motorized shading to fit the specific needs of any space. Today was the third time in a row that I have gone into Rittenhouse Electric Supply and have been treated rudely. I only went to them because they are close, but it never fails that I am treated disrespectfully there. Today I was abruptly told, "You stand back there!" by a clerk when I stood where just moments before someone else had stood. There was no, "Excuse me, sir.
Please stand over there to pay for your purchase". There was a plexiglass shield between me and the clerk. He was pleasant to the previous customer who was not admonished to move away. I am disgusted to think that his behavior might have been racially motivated, or age-related as I am of a different race and a senior citizen. I will not allow clerks at Rittenhouse Electric Supply to demean and insult me again.
