Our company was formed in 1990 and later incorporated in 1996 by Jim Hess Sr. after he retired from a twenty year career in law enforcement. Jim was also a Whelen factory representative for twelve years in the rocky mountain region. We have now evolved into one of Whelen's largest master distributors in the western United States with over 30 years combined experience in public safety vehicle equipment. We at VLS feel we can offer our clients better service by concentrating our efforts into a few specialized areas.

We offer sales, service, and installation of all types of emergency vehicle equipment. Our staff has decades of experience in all aspects of public safety upfitting. Each week our highly trained technicians complete quality builds for agencies in Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Nevada, and other surrounding states.

Faq Report

You must fill out a Credit Application and upon approval of your Credit Application, your first order must be paid for with a credit card. Subsequent orders can then be ordered with a PO. All PO orders must be faxed to VLS on a Company Letterhead at (801) 676-4993. Most orders ship within 24 hours.

This company is absolutely amazing. My husband has worked there for 5 years and they have become like family. They make sure their employees are taken care of. They see hard work and value that. They want to give back to their employees all the time. My husband loves the work environment and I'm always happy that he doesn't really come home stressed out.

He loves his job and the people he works for. They are nothing short of amazing. My husband and I have twins with one being special needs and they work with him when it comes to our child's doctor appointments and they always ask how we are doing. We are so grateful for this company and what they are doing and what they stand for.

Called to get a simple truck light install. Don't bother. Told me they were booked with POLICE vehicles through September. F everyone else. Didn't even offer to investigate into fitting me in anywhere

Unable to meet deadlines, but will quote quick service. Installs require multiple return trips to the shop to get the job done correctly. Be prepared to have your time wasted and to struggle with no quality assurance on the products or installation.

Terrible customer service called multiple times for replacement parts for our brush trucks and tenders never received calls back about pricing, parts or anything and our station is only an hour and a half away from them.
